increasingly common automotive curiosity during the 1950s, its
stunning success was clear to all onlookers by September 1965, when
the ten millionth example left the world-famous VW factory in
Wolfsburg, Germany. Subtle updates made the car even better than
before, including slimmer windshield pillars and larger window
openings all around, thanks to new body-stamping presses. The
larger windshield was kept clean by enlarged and repositioned wiper
blades, the engine cover was now opened by a pushbutton latch
rather than the previous T-handle, and new heater control levers,
swiveling sun visors, redesigned front seats, a new folding rear
seat/parcel shelf and under-carpet insulation rounded out the many
improvements for 1965. Confirming the Beetle's fast-growing appeal,
over 288,500 were exported to the United States that year
alone.Handsomely finished in eye-catching Red paint and Tan cloth
and vinyl upholstery, this 1965 Volkswagen Beetle is a highly

a 1,300cc air-cooled 'Flat-4' engine paired with a 4-speed manual
gearbox/rear transaxle. Both the engine and carburetor were rebuilt
during 2022 by the long-running VW specialists at the Beetle Barn
in Las Vega, Nevada. Other highlights include a 12-volt electrical
conversion, OEM pushbutton AM radio, a newer battery, new tires,
and a period style removable luggage rack. Correct, body-color
steel wheels and bright VW-scripted hubcaps provide the finishing
touch. Representing an important stage in the Beetle's historic
