1962 Ford Thunderbird Convertible with Sport Roadster accessories.. For 1962 the new Thunderbird brought the boldest new ideas to the American road, paced by a unique expression of total luxury. The pinnacle of the third generation Thunderbird was the removable tonneau cover that sealed off the back seat and would not limit the use of the power convertible top when in place. This striking addition transformed the four-seater into a sporty two-seater that called back to the first generation of T-birds introduced in 1955.
The removal of the tonneau cover reveals the standard Thunderbird rear seat when four must journey. Particularly convenient is the fact that the top can be raised with the tonneau cover in place.
The slip-stream headrests are an integral part of the distinctive lift-off tonneau cover. The sleek hood line sheathes the secret of Thunderbird's power, the 390 V-8 with four-barrel carburetion. The convertible conceals its power top automatically at the flick of a switch. There's no cloth boot to attach, no bulge to break the sweep of the body line silhouette. Great looking, runs good. Probably about 85% restored. NOTE: No AC or power windows.
