For Sale: 1934 Chevrolet Roadster in Eustis, Florida

Vehicle Description

I moved out to California in 1956 when I bought my 1934 Chevrolet Roadster from my room mate. The person he bought the car from had collected many new parts that were still available at that time.  I could not afford a modern car at the time. I drove the car to work for a few years until I bought a used Buick Convertible. I towed the Chevy to Connecticut when I changed jobs. I was transferred to Florida and shipped the Chevy inside the moving van. I disassembled the car to the frame and brought the individual body parts into a paint shop. I had found a Chevy car add at Hershey with the colors I wanted. See photo. I painted the frame black and restored some of the body wood frame. I used to visit Hershey every year and found some parts including the Eagle radiator cap. I installed a replacement electrical harness, skin covers for the hub caps, chrome plated bumpers and misc. parts. I also converted to a 12 volt system that made easier starting.

I have had 2 problems in more recent years, Oil was not getting to the valve lifters in adequate amounts. This was a common problem because of the small (1/16)" oil line that tended to plug. I replaced the line with a (1/4 )" line. There was a leak between the engine lubricating oil and cooling water. I removed the head and found 2 cooling openings that did not match with the block. This may not have been the original head. This resulted in a very small clearance between the head cooling hole and cylinder block piston. I took the block to a respected Machine Shop here in Eustis and had the holes welded closed and the block ground flat. Upon reassembling the engine I had a mishap when the copper vacuum advance line fell onto the starter hot line. I did not have a strong spark after that so I replaced the coil and installed an electronic system that replaced the condenser and points. A friend mechanic said the valves need adjusting and timing reset but it is difficult to find a local mechanic that works on old cars that will come to the house. In years past I would do it but at 88 years young I have difficulty in performing tasks. We are down sizing and will lose our garage space. I hope someone who appreciates this car as much as me will enjoy it.
